SET CONSTRUCTION Jonathan Yiap
“The most effective and tantalising Australian Horror since Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook.”

“ Savanna Wegman’s set is a wonder; from a stunning opening curtain to the design of Briarwood itself; a model of dilapidated grandeur filled with some very clever nooks and crannies that allow for some good old fashioned stage trickery.”

--  Darby Turnbull, Theatre Matters

“The set design by Savanna Wegman is remarkable, wholly transforming the space into this decrepit mansion that smells of "bleach and depression". Peeling walls, dilapidated furniture and dirty floors create a tense atmosphere and indicate the horror that has taken over this house. Doorways from the living area to the rest of the residence are shrouded in darkness hinting at the skeletons in the closet that are waiting to be discovered.”

-- Myron My, My Melbourne arts

“Possibly the most magnificent curtain ever hung across a performance space”
“Savanna Wegman’s set design is a worn, gorgeously decrepit diorama – all rough-cut angles, peeling wallpaper, differences in scale – helping build a palpable unease as the play progresses. There are secrets in the walls of the house, as the streetlight from outside shines through one window.”

-- Crystal Stivala, The Theatre

“This imaginative, risk-taking production takes the tropes of the horror genre to new and original places.  Each aspect is integrated into the whole: text, performance, design and sound”

-- Michael Brindley, Stage Whispers
