ORCHESTRA
ANAM Orchestra (Australian National Academy of Music)
Victorian Opera’s production scored at every turn, with a splendid Australian cast, ingenious and creative production, and daring and clever use of live black and white video throughout on a full-stage screen. - Barney Shwartz, The Age
The visual element of this production was adventurous and conceived in intricate detail. Savanna Wegman’s set and costume design fused beautifully with Fairbairn’s cinematic palette – Heather Leviston, Classic Melbourne
The set was simple but endlessly clever: huge suspended metal frames that hung over the stage like a cage, later lowered and reformed into a boardwalk stretching over a shimmering lake. It managed to feel both industrial and dreamlike, almost a reflection of Katya’s inner thoughts. - Kavya, Its on the house
